Commissions

Portrait Commissions - My objective as a portrait artist is always to create a memorable, personalized work of art. I’ve always enjoyed painting and drawing portraits both as a creative endeavor and a technical exercise.

To that end, my works are more than just a copy of a person’s photograph. I strive to bring each portrait to life in a way that a photograph can’t, making you feel like you can reach out and touch them (but please don’t touch the pastel paintings, they will smudge!). I typically spend 15-20 hours on each portrait, capturing not only the person’s likeness, but their personality and mood, the sparkle in their eyes, the quirkiness of their smile. I achieve this effect through various blending, layering. line and shading techniques. The end result is an image that looks more alive than any photograph ever could.
